Alestopetersius brichardi Super Rød Kongotetra
Type locality is ‘Yangambi, Lake Yandja’, Yangambi being a settlement located on the Congo River in Orientale province, Democratic Republic of Congo.
A. brichardi appears to be known exclusively from the middle Congo including some tributaries such as the Busira and Ruki, and may also occur in affluents draining the Republic of Congo.
There exists a single account from Pool Malebo (Stanley Pool) but all other records relate to localities considerably further upriver.
