Casuarina cones are a popular addition to freshwater aquaria, as they enrich the water with valuable tannins and other substances that promote the well-being of the fish and shrimp!

They come from the casuarina, a tree native to Australia, Southeast Asia and Africa.
The cones are brown in color and cone-shaped.
They contain tannins that slightly acidify the water and have an antibacterial effect.
They also give the water a natural, very slightly amber tint and only slightly lower the pH value.
The ideal alternative to alder cones with a similar effect but less discolored water.
